So, friends, Henry Royce was born in 1863 in a village called Alveston in England. His family ran a grocery flour mill in Miles. But due to failure in this work, they all settled in London. But when Henry was only 9 years old, his father died. And thus Henry had to do various jobs like selling newspapers and delivering telegrams to meet his household expenses. After doing all this for the next few years, he moved to a place called Peterborough in England with the help of his aunt.
And then after returning to London, he joined a Light and Power Company through which he used to light the streets. Friends Henry Royce had by now saved some money from his earnings and then opened a small company in 1884 with his savings and a friend Claremont. Which he named “FH Royce & Company”. Actually, this company used to make small parts of electricity. And then after the next 10 years, dynamo and electric cranes were also made through this company. And then in 1899, he got his company registered.
But later due to increasing competition due to cranes and dynamos coming from Germany and America, the company started making losses. So Royce decided to build a car. In 1901, he bought a “De Wich” and a two-cylinder Docoville car to get to know motor cars better. He recognized the shortcomings of these cars and then in 1904 he made three of his cars. Of these 3 cars, he gave one to his still business partner, Claremont, and a man named Henry Edmonds bought his second car.
So friends now begin the story of the other founders of Rolls-Royce. Whose name was “Charles Rolls” Darsheel was a good friend of Charles Edmonds and owned a large car showroom in London. When he saw Henry Royce’s car, he liked it very much and Charles Rolls became Henry Royce’s partner.

On December 23, 1904, a business agreement was reached between the two that would buy cars made by Rolls-Royce and all of those cars would be known as “Rolls-Royce”. And then in December 1904 Rolls-Royce’s first car, the 10HP, was launched. It was from here that Royce’s technical knowledge and Rolls’ business acumen worked hard to create cars and the company grew rapidly.
In 1907 the company produced the six-cylinder “Silver Ghost” car. Which was super smooth. And this car was so appreciated by the people that it was called “the best car in the world”.
However, Rolls died in a plane crash in 1910. And at that time he was only 32 years old.
In 1914, Rolls-Royce began manufacturing aircraft engines in addition to automobiles, and they first produced the Eagle engine. In 1921, due to increased demand, Rolls-Royce opened a new factory in Massachusetts. And then in the same year, he made a car called “Springfield Ghost”.
In 1930, Rolls-Royce acquired the sports racing car manufacturer Bentley. But meanwhile, in 1933, Henry Royce also died.
Rolls-Royce cars were later introduced with diesel engines in 1948 and then in 1951, the company launched its first luxury cars with diesel-powered engines. However, due to research and development by 1964, competition in aero engines was increasing. This was the reason that Rolls-Royce gave place to about 80,000 people in his company and according to manpower, his company became the 14th largest company in Britain.
Despite this, it continues to run at a loss in the automobile business due to the recession. And then in 1998, it was decided to sell Rolls-Royce. Which BMW and Volkswagen bought while bidding.
